Patti Austin, a long time music veteran who worked in commercial jingles (she's the Meow Mix singer!), back up singer as well as big duets (like her work with James Ingram on "Baby Come to Me"). Her jazz repertoire is less well known but this Grammy winning effort does rectify that a bit. Here Austin explores both well known and many lesser known songs from the Gershwin catalog to celebrate in big band jazz style. This performance was captured partially from a live performance for German radio. In it Patti Austin slinks and swings her way through medleys of standards and resuscitates "Swanee" for a new century. This is a real tour de force and will surprise people only familiar with Austin's hits.
