Born in Buffalo, NY (1948) - (singer/songwriter) Rick James (whose music was a lively mix of pop, funk, and soul) certainly was something of a "flash-in-the-pan" when it came to his rather brief career as a recording artist.

As his creative abilities quickly dried up - James (who had a lifelong addiction to cocaine) soon found himself faced with various legal troubles that involved the likes of assault, kidnapping, and yes, torture.

This "Definitive Collection" CD contains 18 tracks in all which were recorded by James (along with accompanying musicians) in the years from 1979-1988. Two of my favourites are - "Super Freak" and "Give It To Me, Baby".

*Note* - In 2004 - Rick James (56 at the time) died from heart failure.
