A bit bleak. Setting involves child sex rings and very sleazy prostitution. But I liked the main character enough to read another one in the series.

Borrows the framework from Lawrence Block - the likeable detective lives with a hooker who "got out of the business" and is now in long term, monogamous relationship. This bothered me, as this writer is not in Block's category.

But .... gettting past that, and skipping a few paragraphs of the really ugly, ugly scenes...it was fine, "need another mystery book" sort of read.
