Liz Carlyle is redeployed to work in counterintelligence and is tasked with going undercover in the household of a Russian oligarch whose life is believed in danger. There is also a rumored ‘illegal’ thought to be in England, hence the book’s title. Another well-crafted spy tale!

Characterization is fabulous. One of her best. Not a bond-thriller, so stay away if that's what you want.

Entertaining. It's not the kind of book you will remember as a "great read" but it's good enough for a cold day
