I'm working through the Bosch series in order. I enjoyed this novel more than some of the earlier. In particular, the plot twist was great. Although I have more to read in the series, I found this one to be unburdened with some of the cross references to other plots. For example, Irvin Irving is mentioned in passing. The result is a story that connects (or seems to connect) relevant characters in a tight, twisting manner.

I love Bosch's relentless attitude. He's a hand-slapping high-fiver in my mind. This story is great though not among his best. Even so, still a worthy read that will keep your attention until the last page.

Bosch is unrelentingly relentless, unstoppable...til it's over. Here, the relationship with the dead, a usual one, is even more important so it seems like a let down just catching the guilty; we need the world to change. >>>>> According to me, Bosch and Connelly are alike in many ways; some, as in 'Hieronymus', possibly yet unclear. I oughta know.

I loved it! It had me in suspense and it felt like I was part of the investigation as well.

Harry Bosch returns in ex-journalist Connelly''s latest book. Bosch returns to the LAPD after three years of retirement, joining ex-partner Kiz Rider in the cold case squad (a.k.a. the Open-Unsolved Unit), established by the PD''s new chief. Working on a case from 1988 in which a mixed-race teenager, Bosch and Rider uncover new evidence of involvement of a group of white supremacists, evidence that was supressed by Harry''s nemesis in the LAPD, Deputy Chief Irving. Watch for the cameo from a character in Connelly''s earlier book, VOID MOON. Good pacing, strong plotting and characterization, and an intriguing story, with the twists and turns Connelly''s readers have come to expect.
