A well done translation with many footnotes to enlighten the reader on the meaning of some of the author's references that reflect the times and current events at the time of the writing. The novel itself is well written though perhaps a bit long. The interactions and thoughts of the characters are universal and are still relevant today. Perhaps not as dynamic as War and Peace but worth reading if you are interested.
