This DVD contains two versions of the 1954 melodrama: director Vittorio De Sica's 89-minute cut, titled "Terminal Station," and producer David O. Selznick's 72-minute cut, titled "Indiscretion of an American wife."
After disappointing previews, David Selznick severely reedited it and changed the title, but it seemes to me that Selznick's version simply makes it 17-minute shorter than the original without changing a storyline.
I don't see any point in doing that.
In any case, it is a simpl story and the director simply made it into a melodrama by exaggeration and sensationalism.
Although it appears silly, the performances of Jennifer Jones and Montgomery Clift are superb.
