It is a hearth breaking true story that brings you a better understanding of what really happened in a cultural different culture, the hardship and the undermining of the women in the society and in the public. Sad that still exist today : what women have to go through in a part of the world dominated by men. It is worthwhile to watch it even with subtitles.

Directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf in 2001 based on a partly true story, this Iranian docudrama depicts a woman's journey to Kandahar.
Set in Afghanistan during the rule of the Taliban, Nafas (a young Afghan journalist) learns more and more about the hardships women face under the Taliban.
If you're interested in the situation during the rule of the Taliban, this film shows you what you want to know about.
It is heartbreaking.

A excellent glimpse into lives in Kandahar and its surrounding, hostile areas. The scene of a great number of amputees hopping to the air drop of a bunch of artificial legs is a scene to behold. The film was shot in a documentary stype but is not a documentary. One of the better made Canadian productions in recent time.

A film, even more beautiful and haunting when seen a second time.
