Our monthly concert series Staircase Sounds continues with one of Vancouver’s most exciting trios, performing the remarkable sound of the Balkans!

Fetele din Balkani is a fresh and dynamic ensemble based in Vancouver, bringing together three accomplished musicians from diverse backgrounds to re-imagine the rich musical traditions of the Balkans.

Formed by Lacri Galagan (piano, Moldova), Irene Senent (violin, Spain), and Jen Yakamovich (drums, Canada), Fetele din Balkani blends classical training, deep cultural roots, and contemporary experimentation. Together, they craft inventive and heartfelt arrangements of Balkan folk music, weaving improvisation, rhythmic play, and rich textures into their interpretations. Their performances offer audiences both precision and spontaneity, tradition and innovation

• Level 8 is accessible via the main elevators.
• The Grand Staircase is an open indoor area, that may be busy during the performance.
• Participants are welcome to move, take breaks, or leave the space as needed.
• There will be many seating options available: small hard chairs, big soft chairs, stools, and benches.
• We will reserve a section of chairs for people with mobility needs. There will also be spaces for wheelchairs and mobility devices.
