Bees and Weeds: Handmade Art Books with Madame Beespeaker

3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
South Hill Branch

Description

Artist and educator Lori Weidenhammer (aka Madame Beespeaker) will lead a nature walk from the library to the pollinator meadow at Memorial South Park. She will discuss the meaning of "weeds" in the local ecology and which weeds are beneficial for bees and other pollinators.

After returning to the library, learn how to make a beautiful handmade book that can be used to press weeds collected on the walk. Use collage, drawing, painting, and writing to turn your book into a nature journal.

Children under 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
