It's Closing Time, our Winter music series. Every second Friday from November to February, we will be hosting a local musician as they fill the Central Library's atrium with a live, improvised performance of electronic ambient music during the last hour of the work week.
Playback Head is the moniker of Alexandre Klinke, a Brazilian composer and media artist based in Vancouver, BC. Devoted to the exploration of timbre, texture, and the sonic traits of analog tape, this project blends improvised melodies and harmonies using traditional instruments, with atonal sounds derived from field recordings, archival material, and sound objects. The resulting evocative music alludes to the very nature of memory, and suggests different ways of listening.
Take a break from the cold and the rain and welcome the weekend
warmly with synthesizers, sine waves, and other psychedelic sounds.
