History and Impacts of Residential Schools with the IRSSS

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Central Library

Description

Learn about the effects of colonialism as well as the ongoing challenges faced by survivors and their descendants in this informational workshop. Hosted by the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS), this event will discuss the topic of intergenerational trauma as experienced by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, all of whom continue to bear the scars of assimilation policies.

The workshop will also feature a compelling testimonial from a survivor, offering an intimate perspective on the lived realities of those affected, and showcasing the resiliency of Indigenous populations. Since 1994, IRSSS has been committed to supporting survivors and their families, and this event reflects our ongoing dedication to healing and understanding. We continue to offer hope and healing for Indigenous communities through our services.

Presented in partnership with the Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS).

This hybrid event will also be streamed live. Registration is only for in-person attendance, to join this event online via Zoom click HERE.
