Big Fight in Little Chinatown: Film Screening & Panel

6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Central Library

Description

All across the globe, Chinatowns are under threat of disappearing—and along with them, the rich history of communities who fought from the margins for a place to belong.

We're hosting a screening of Big Fight in Little Chinatown by director Karen Cho, a film that documents the collective fight to save Chinatowns across North America, set during the unfolding COVID pandemic and the unprecedented rise in anti-Asian racism.

After the film, we'll have a panel conversation with four Vancouverites fighting for the future of Chinatown: Melody Ma (Chinatown Together), Beverly Ho (Yarrow Society), Pearl Wong (Queer Lunar New Year / Chinatown Today), and Swallow Zhou (Chinatown elder).
