Description

After 14 years of drawing Savage Chickens comics, Doug Savage has learned a thing or two about telling a joke. In this workshop, he’ll show you how he writes and draws funny comic strips, and he’ll get you to draw some of your own. Topics include brainstorming exercises, humour writing techniques, and the special considerations of traditional 4-panel gag comics.

Part of the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival Education Day, in partnership with the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival. This workshop series is also presented in partnership with Capilano University.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Doug Savage’s first graphic novel, Laser Moose and Rabbit Boy, was published in September 2016. It’s about a moose who shoots lasers out of his eyes and his rabbit sidekick. The sequel, Laser Moose and Rabbit Boy: Disco Fever, came out in October 2017. He’s now working on the third book in the series, Laser Moose and Rabbit Boy: Time Trout!
