MYSTERIES THAT STAND ALONE
Annotation:Jody learns that the man convicted of murdering her father was released from prison and is moving back to town. There are many unanswered questions about the crime - like what happened to her mom- and she wants to learn more. The characters are well written.
Annotation:A very well written story of many generations. The fairey stories blend beautifully with the narrative.
Annotation:The year is 1933 and Nora travels from Denver to Mississippi to collect an inheritance from a relative she did not know.A major part of her inheritance is a decaying old mansion (and its secrets) She is surprised by the racial and class prejudice but she is also pleased with a fierce protectiveness surrounding her late aunt's life--and death.Change comes slow in the south so it isn't uncommon for some one to hang on to their former glory long after the wealth is gone. Great characters and SECRETS,(Lots of secrets)
Annotation:This is such a unique novel. Layer upon layer is slowly peeled away until an astonishing truth is revealed. Thought provoking.
Annotation:A great moody novel. I don't want to say too much but I loved this book.
Annotation:This novel starts with a gruesome murder and then a coverup. Years pass, life changes and different lives are highlighted because the muder changed so many people. Great characters in small town America where secrets are hard to keep.
Annotation:A woman flees a dead-end life and bad marriage to take a job teaching latin at her old boarding school. She is haunted by three accidental deaths that occured her final year as a student and then more strange things start to happen in the present,Also she. now has a young daughter to worry about.
