Add a CommentThis book was really enjoyable! My only complaint is that it reminded me of Supernatural a little too much. Other than that, I really got into the story. (Plus, the cover is totally cool.) I can't wait to find out what happens in the sequel.
I stayed up until one in the morning finishing this book. Wow. I applaude the author for being able to seemlessly join such a degree of both innocence and horror into the writing. Anna's character was intense and I found myself rooting for her even as the deeper I entered the book, the more I saw how evil Anna could be. I loved the chemistry between Anna and Cas who is also our hero. The story is told from his point of view and was both very believable and a very fun way of viewing the story. One qualm? Anna's backstory was given too quickly so there wasn't much time to let it sink in or for the horror to take root. Overall a very good horror/romance book. Really enjoyed it.
To sum it up holy amazing shit and Oh my gosh i loved this book!!! hope theres a sequel :)
Personally I really enjoyed this book. I enjoy horror and romance, so this was the perfect book for me. I loved this book and am waiting for the sequel 'Girl of Nightmares'.
NPR best YA novel of 2011
I really don't know what to think about this book. It was faced paced with an cool concept - hunting murderous ghosts. Cas is an interesting blend of tough guy and romantic - he reminds me of a combination of the Winchester brothers with Dean's demeanor and Sam's heart. Anna in turn is the perfect example of a tortured soul. My biggest issue with this book (other than the red print which makes it a bit hard to read) was that I didn't feel emotionally invested in any of the characters. I came the closest with Anna after you find out what happened to her, but once this happens, she is sidelined for the remainder of the book. Overall I didn't find the book romantic or tragic. The secondary characters were a mixed bag too - I like Thomas but want to slap Carmel.
Anna Dressed in blood was a beautiful, tragic romance novel that dives deep into humor, love, and pure terror. Anna's character was terribly beautiful and the connection between her and Cas was clear from the very beginning. Cas was a cocky teenager who received a wake up-call as soon as he reached thunder bay and was thrown into the ghost hunt for Anna not even two weeks after arriving. The book's characters were amazingly described and and developed. I do believe Thomas and Carmel would make a cute couple. I hope that Cas finds Anna in the next book, Girl of Nightmares.
