Add a CommentMy four-year-old just couldn't get enough of Gerald and Piggy in this one. The drama of the ice cream cone - both in the internal monologue of Gerald and the illustration of the ice cream - was thick enough to be cut with a knife. How can cartoons be so expressive?! Really taps into how over the top the emotions of kids can be. Sharing an ice cream IS a dramatic experience for someone this age!
my son loves this book
A great story! Emotions are up and down and it is a fun read.
The title is funny!
Can't go wrong with "Piggy and Gerald"!
Gerald is grappling with a great moral conflict! Should he share his icecream with his best friend Piggie? But maybe Piggie doesn’t like that flavour and she is not here anyway! But she could be somewhere all alone and sad and icecream would make her feel better! He debates sharing his icecream for so long that it melts away! My, oh, my! Read to find out how it all ends! The illustrations are excellent and touching, as usual.
