Add a CommentThey Live By Night: doomed young lovers get the Nick Ray treatment. This is a very good film, but Farley and Cathy are just the sweetest young delinquents, like puppies playing in a basket. Side Street: you may wonder what would have become of Bowie and Kitty, if they had made it out of They Live By Night. Wonder no more; Side Street is a virtual sequel. "Bowie" steals, and what is worse, confesses to stealing, and he and "Kitty" are tossed into the big-city noir meatgrinder. To me, this is the better film of the two.
