Add a CommentA dummed down version of a middle class suburban alcaholic bottoming out. Pathetic, but not funny. He drinks and drinks and NEVER gets drunk !?! Just stays the same disoriented 'nice guy', who shows no mood change or loss of facilities. "Why is this all happening to poor little me ?" Not very 'entertaining', and with no self-awareness.
Really great movie. Not a comedy at all. Will ferrell is fascinating to watch in a dramatic role. Touching relationships with Samantha and Kenny. Great ending that leaves you feeling bouyant. Highly recommend. Watch the special features.
This was a nice change up from what we are to expect from Ferrell.I actually felt kind of sorry for him. I found it better than what others "rated" this one. Not a real feel good story, but I was interested throughout.
Don't even waste your time. This movie is the most boring I've seen lately.
The plot is simple but I am pleasantly surprised with this film. Will Ferrell certainly showcases his versatility as an actor.
It was not THAT funny, not that I think it was supposed to be, but it was interesting to see Will Ferrel out of his funny guy act and having to play a more dramatic role.
Will is good but the kid steals every scene he was in. Ignore what the comments on the cover "Hilariously Funny", this is a black comedy not The Hangover 1.
What I have come to realize is that most people do not like reality in the movies and television shows they watch. Sure, fine. Life can suck, so why put in something you want to enjoy and laugh at? I get it. This movie was really great. I very much enjoyed it. BUT, don't think about taking it out, if you don't like "unhappy" or as I like to call it an appropriate and realistic ending. What would you do if you were in the situation of Will? If you had his life? It's realistic, thus not fast pace, or shiny like most movies these days. It's in a way like "Somewhere" directed by Sophia Coppola, so if you enjoyed this, check out that. 5/5
Eh ... drink, drink, drink and then discovers more to life = people, relationships, etc .... slow, plodding... not all that interesting
Excellent film about man who must make a change to move forward. He has refused and resisted in the past and now he has lost everything. Will he be able to change now?
