Some interesting concepts and characters in this dystopian book. It's actually five novellas in one, and the unevenness between them is apparent. Some of the characters made boneheaded decisions which didn't help with immersion.

DNF. I thought the TV show started with great promise, but the story was just is so full of holes. However, I wanted to give the book a chance. Unfortunately, the show adhered pretty close to the book. I didn't get far in the book because…

A warped sense of morality lethally taints a community of survivors.
The precarious, life or death efforts at justice makes for dramatically intense action.
Sponge worthy.
I highly recommend the book Wool! This book takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where humankind is forced to live in silos to survive. Breaking the law and expressing a desire to go outside results in a process called cleaning, where…

A pretty typical humanity's last survivors in a silo/tower/sealed cave. The characters were interesting, and the power and control issues were interesting. The book bogs down in places--especially Howey's obsession with climbing stairs.…

How did I miss this? Doesn't matter, the Silo Series has taken over my reading life and should be on the shelves of every science fiction and/or post apocalyptic story lover. Originally a serial released one part at a time online, the…

This is a good read for anyone who likes dystopian future settings. I thought the setting was very creative, with a group of people living underground in a silo and the outside world seemingly a toxic wasteland. I also enjoyed the mystery…

An exciting post-apocalyptic novel about a society living in a silo that doesn't know its own history. It relies heavily on tension and twists, so it's guaranteed to pull the reader through late nights of page-turning. You might not be…

i WAS cleverly sucked into the story and the characters bit by bit. I like scii-fi and fantasy especially when they are well-written as this one is. Glad its a serial because I really want to know if silo 18 and Juliette can bring back at…

A "Big Chill' weekend dinner recommendation led me to Hugh Howey's first novel. Wool is about a post-apocalyptic world with societal taboos on certain speech. The people live far below the surface and the knowledge of their past is as…

One of the most absorbing science fiction novels I have ever read. Just when you start to think, “Okay, I see where this is going,” Howey takes a different path, more clever than you expected. The first big surprise takes place about 50…

Someone who doesn't know anything about sci-fi recommended this book to me, knowing I love the genre, especially the hard sci-fi. This is barely sci-fi though, more of a political dystopian murder mystery. Unfortunately, even in that…
